Pinkie’s tradin’ in the needles…

…for a hook.  Well not seriously but I did take a crochet class last week and in just a couple more days I’ll be the proud owner of a self-crocheted potholder.  The teach said I was the best in the class, so the class only consisted of one but I mean really who’s counting anyway.  No actually she thought I had crocheted before because I was the best she had ever had.  Now keep in mind my mother has been crocheting for as long as I can remember and she has tried to show me how a couple times but I was never really into it at the time, so I only made it as far as the chain.  I’ve also really understood the concept of crocheting for quite some time, the actual differences between the construction of knitting and crocheting so I’m sure that helped as well.  So after all this bragging you’re probably wondering where my masterpiece is huh?

First Crocheted Project

Ok so not quite to masterpiece level yet but I’m workin’ on it.  Wanna know a secret?  I’m not 100% sure if this is the inside or the outside.  I’m thinking it’s the inside (back) but both sides look exactly the same, except for the chain.

Anyway I am definitely not letting go of the needles yet.  I’m actually working on, as usual, way too many projects.  I have a couple Christmas presents on the needles, well only one then I’ll be casting on for the next.  I also started baby Pinkie a blanket on Friday.  I have 11 3/4 squares to go, out of 12.  I’m praying that all goes well because well frankly I’ve never heard of a gauge swatch, ok so I’ve heard of them but I’ve never knit one in my life and wasn’t about to begin with this project.  I mean really if my gauge is off then won’t it be consistently off for each square?  Ha I know I’m up so setting myself up for failure on this one.  Other than that, I’m also working on the ole wild stripes again (it makes for a great Dr. appt blanket even though it is quite large, but it requires no thinking), a sock monkey for the soon to be niece (she so won’t be getting this until her 1st bday), and plenty of things I’ve already started and just got bored with.  Didn’t I actually say I was going to do a count of all the unfinished projects…hmmm yep didn’t get to that, maybe by next time.
